a year agoAs a backpacker this would be good for a night stopover, but wouldn't recommend particularly other than that as it's not in a particularly nice area (one of the few places in NZ I haven't felt completely safe and almost nothing to do) , and it wasn't very social. Majority of people seem to be living there long term, so just not quite the vibe, but I imagine it's great if that is what you want from it. It was really nice to have a spacious room to yourself for a reasonable price, and the kitchen and other facilities were good. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. My only real criticism is that the room wasn't as clean as I would've liked as it was quite dusty, and there was quite an unpleasant smell that I wasn't sure if it was just an unusual scented cleaning product or something else. The bedding and towel provided were very clean however.

10 months agoI stayed from march to mid april. The staff were lovely during my stay. I was attended to whenever I forgot my key, even in the middle of the night. However, I'd like to report a long-term resident for breaking the hostel rules. Is there any way I'd be able to do this? As i don't think having an emotionally unstable alcoholic taking up permanent residency in the hostel is the goal of the hostel.

9 months agoI have been staying at the hostel from July onwards. Recently the organization upgraded their Wi-Fi and improvement in data uploading and downloading speeds has been amazing. I am very happy staying here and it suits my current needs.

a year agoGood value for money as you pay $50 and get your own private room, which is clean and comfortable. The kitchen is quite small and doesn't have much storage place, and there's no communal area. Doesn't feel like a Backpacker's hostel and there's not a sociable atmosphere, but I guess its not marketed at that. The WiFi was pretty bad, kept on disconnecting.

9 months agoI’m Bh…. I moved to a hostel 4 months ago and initially had a single room. I chose this hostel because it’s within walking distance of my college. As I’ve stayed here longer, I’ve realized I’m also close to Pak’nSave, Victoria Street, Center Place, The Warehouse, and more. Recently, I moved to a double room, which costs only slightly more than the single room. I now have the best view of Hamilton from my window. The hostel has a community kitchen, shared bathrooms, a lounge room, free WiFi, and no electricity bills. The community here is friendly, and overall, this is the best value for money in Hamilton.
