2 weeks agoThis spot offers stunning views not only of Christchurch, but also of Lyttelton Harbour. On a clear day, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. While the gondola ticket may feel a bit pricey, I truly believe it's worth the cost for the experience — especially if you're visiting as a traveler. Highly recommended.

2 months agoCheck the website for packages, dates of operation and keep the weather in mind. Convenient bus route 8 from The CBD right to the front door of the Gondola base. The views at the top are spectacular on clear weather days and an absolutely must do if you're in Christchurch. Several hiking trails from here all over the mountain. Pack your own lunch and drinks and enjoy responsibly outside on the rocks. Remember appropriate footwear and jack's as it does get fresh on windy days. Two thumbs up!!

a month agoBeautiful experience, last time i came here was 8 years ago. Amazing view at the top, the kids enjoyed it, went during the school holidays where there was a promotion “free for 5-15y/o”. Just making a comment on a regular hot chocolate that we ordered from the cafe, the cup is too small for $6. posting a photo for ref! Overall a great experience!

2 months agoThe gondola in Christchurch is a must visit. The ride to the top is beautiful where you can see the views of the city and the coast line. There’s a restaurant and cafe along with a gift shop at the top. The food was OK. From there, you could also walk on several trails. We were there on a weekday in May and there were no lines. The views at the top were spectacular!!

2 months agowhile to get on the gondola, especially with the summer crowds. We got lucky with a beautiful clear day, which made the wait totally worth it. As you rise above the valley, the landscape opens up fast — you can see Heathcote below, the city of Christchurch stretching out across the plains, and the Pacific Ocean glittering beyond. On the other side: rolling hills, Lyttelton Harbour, and the distant outline of the Southern Alps. There’s a great café at the top too — perfect for relaxing and taking it all in.
