In South Dunedin, St Patrick’s Basilica stands out not only for its architectural presence but also for its strong sense of community. The church is well-regarded for its friendly atmosphere and welcoming congregation, making it a cherished spiritual home for many. While the sanctuary has modern elements, the space continues to foster a deep communal feeling that resonates with attendees. Regular Sunday masses provide an opportunity for reflection and connection in a comfortable setting. St Patrick’s Basilica is a must-visit for those looking to experience a heartfelt and inclusive place of worship in Dunedin.

a year agoI do wish they use the old sanctuary but the new one has the community feeling about it.

a year agoI was visiting and noticed this Basilica and thought it was quite strange, given the architectural style. You will find this interesting if you are into historical architecture and such. We read a sign just out that said that the Basilica was left incomplete for quite sometime and the Basilica we see now is only a very recent addition, which can be seen from designs or rather the lack of any grand designs on the exterior of the building.
