The church’s acoustics are exceptional, providing a stunning setting for musical performances such as gamelan concerts, which have drawn notable attendees and created memorable cultural events. Beyond its physical beauty, St. John’s fosters a welcoming and supportive community where people from diverse backgrounds, including Indonesian and Indian members, feel embraced and encouraged. 2 years agoBeautiful historical church located in town. The accoustic is really good for gamelan performance. Once I came to watch Javanese gamelan Padang Moncar performed organized by NZIA and Mayor Andy was there watching too.

10 years agoA lovely historic wooden Presbyterian church rebuilt in the 1880s after a fire destroyed the original building. St John's is a gorgeous wedding venue and has been an iconic part of Central Wellington for 100s of years. I always look forward to photographing weddings there.
