3 months agoExtremely disappointed! We travelled from Auckland specifically to visit Waiau and decided to celebrate by purchasing some alcohol from Four Square Franz Josef. Everyone in our group was clearly over 25 years old. However, a staff member named Abegall displayed an extremely rude and blatantly discriminatory (racism) attitude towards us. Firstly, she unjustifiably demanded to check everyone’s ID, despite only one person attempting to purchase a lotto ticket. Even more outrageous, after inspecting one of our friend’s IDs, she rudely slammed it down onto the counter in a shockingly disrespectful manner. Because some of us did not have IDs on hand, we had to return to our accommodation to retrieve them. Upon returning to the store, Abegall continued to display an aggressive and unwelcoming attitude, making us feel completely unwelcome and uncomfortable. We sincerely hope that the management of Four Square Franz Josef takes this complaint seriously and considers dismissing the employee named Abegall. Removing such staff members would undoubtedly improve the quality of service. We strongly advise others to think carefully before visiting this store, which appears to have discriminatory attitudes and appalling customer service.
