We had a stormwater main collapse creating a sinkhole under a path, collapsing a 2m high brick wall into the hole (2.5 m deep 3mx1.5m) on our private property in June 2022. WWL did a temporary repair. A year later they told us they had to demolish the 1930s garage and dig a trench to replace the mains. It was a 12 week project started in June 2023, still unfinished. We can't get a code of compliance certificate as the drainage was not inspected before concreting over. Non authorised people did drainage works and put in noncompliant sumps. They did not put flashing in properly around doors and windows in the replacement garage. WWL and it's contractors have abandoned the site and left us with an unusable backyard and unfinished noncompliant work. If you have had them on your property to do reinstatement works after public asset renewals within your boundary, check with your council if all building consents are completed satisfactorily. If WWL want you to sign a project Agreement then stipulate penalty clauses for breaches, delays and noncompliant work. Do not trust their word on who they propose to work on your property. Staff and contractors do not understand regulations, legislation or contractual obligations in my opinion.

Well I only have good things to say about Wellington Water and the City Council. My experience was a blocked sewage pipe running along the back fence of my property which was turning rather nasty. I phoned the Council on the Monday to report it. They were very helpful and by Wednesday Wellington Water had sent out a team and it was all fixed. They had run out of Lime to spread over the soiled grass and said they would be back Friday to complete the job. I must admit I was a bit sceptical they would be back but sure enough they turned up at 8:30am on the Friday to complete the work. We often comment on the negatives with these reviews but mine was a positive experience and I just want to thank the fellas for a great job.

I rang Wellington water recently to report a serious water leak on Cuba St which looks like it's been pouring out for a long time going by the look of it... it's probably where the sinkhole appeared a week later! The useless and very unhelpful woman I spoke to wasn't interested at all and told me I had to ring and chase it up with the city council... I told her "oh we'll I can't be bothered chasing it up with the council & now I don't care either" Why can't Wellington water chase this up with the council?? No wonder the people of the greater Wellington region have critical water shortages and restrictions. The Wellington city council and Wellington water are both grossly incompetent. As for water meters, this is surely the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff!!! You need to fix this issue before you install water meters!!

We never have those many water leaks on Wellington streets, so many are there for months. At the main time we are on water restrictions as well. What is Wellington Water doing? Hang on, I saw the video the young graduate took online to show off her "easy job"? If the Wellington water's company culture is hard working, how can the young girl doing nothing all the time without a warning from the management? Shame on Wellington water, you guys are experts to waste rate payer's money

Haven't put our water shutdown information on their webpage, of known outages, for two days. Council staff are the ones receiving all the phone calls about the outages as the company provides zero information.
