I had the fried chicken tower for $25. I swapped out the croissant for fries….which ended up being curly fries.
The service was fantastic, the food average.
The fried chicken was oily and tasteless. It lacked seasoning as with the rest of the food. The corn side salad and pickled cabbage was average and the dipping sauce like everything else lacked seasoning, depth and flavor.
The hot chocolate was fantastic!
For presentation of food 10/10. Coffee was good temperature was maintained. But the disappointing part is bread was too hard in our both the dish. Somewhere chewy. Veggies in the dish are not that cooked well.
But cafe is always busy
Staff are nice
Disappointing at best. My husband ordered the big breakfast and nothing was cooked properly- the poached eggs were overcooked with hard yolks, the vegetables were all raw, the tomato was barely roasted, the bread was completely cold and rubbery. My food was slightly better but my bread was also clearly not fresh and no one bothered putting it in the toaster. Big let down, not coming back
I used to come here all the time for brunch years..it’s been a year and now it’s seemed to not be as good. I always order the Eton Rifle - today the bread was so hard and chewy. My friend ordered beans is beans and it had a really over powering taste of coriander and the bread was rock hard. My first matcha latte was so pale and not mixed - could just taste milk and then concentrated matcha, so I asked if I could order another and then it was the same but with more unmixed matcha. The staff are very lovely the regular iced coffee was good.
It had been over a year since our last visit to Winona Forever, but prior to that, we were frequent visitors - it was one of our favorite breakfast/brunch spots thanks to the consistently flavorful, high-quality food. Unfortunately, this most recent visit was a real letdown.
The chicken wrap had barely any chicken, and the pork belly was the biggest disappointment. The skin was soggy instead of crispy, the meat was dry and lacked flavor, and the brioche on tasted old and stale.
We’ve noticed other recent reviews mentioning a drop in food quality as well, so it seems there may have been changes in the kitchen or ownership. One thing that hasn’t changed, thankfully, is the service - it’s always been great and continues to be. Still, it’s a shame about the food, as this used to be a place we genuinely loved and looked forward to returning to. Sad to say we will not be returning.
