8 years agoNear Gate Pa Memorial Reserve (Domain), this little church was locked when we toured this old battle site but a peep through the windows shows it to be very beautiful. Would love to have seen through. Sign over the door commends the chivalry of both Maori and British soldiers during this 1860s battle. If my history serves me correctly, the chivalry was all one sided. It was the magificent acts of Maori such as Henare Taetari and Heni Te Kiri Karamu who cared for wounded British troops, obeying the Scriptural injunction 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him.'
