At the heart of Balclutha, Clutha District Council operates from 1 Rosebank Terrace, serving as a vital local government office committed to community wellbeing. The council’s staff are recognized for their practical and compassionate approach, going above and beyond to assist residents and travelers alike. A notable example is when a council worker stopped to help change a tyre on a rural road, showcasing the council’s dedication and kindness. This hands-on support exemplifies the council’s role in fostering a safe and connected community throughout the Clutha district, making it an essential establishment in the region.

2 years agoMost useless council I have ever come across. Spent half an hour trying to speak to someone in rates and also planning. No one answering their phone. What do we pay rates for? They haven't even got the plans of our house, boundaries are approximate, so how do they know how much to charge in rates. Our section was subdivided in the 1970's they have no plan of that house nor any information on the subdivision. Unbelieveable!! Receptionist was lovely and helpful, best part of the council.

3 years agoUseless council. They want workers, but just like Timaru, Ashburton and Christchurch, they can't seem to get any cheap rentals built. The only way to move here is to spend $400,000 on an out-dated house that costs $50 a week to heat during winter. Why would I bother?

a year agoJust can't say thankyou enough to the CDC man in his ute that stopped to help us change a tyre on the waihola road yesterday. Above and beyond after some Muppet tossed zed nails on the road. Just so grateful for his kindness and help.

5 years agoOnly council we deal with nationwide that is still paper building consents! Also only accept RFI responses via paper - waste of time and resources. Take a week to vett an application and do not back date it to when it received, unlike other councils. Need to up their game and get in 2020

3 years agoThe ridiculous amount we pay for rates including the constant price hike and you can’t even sort the water condition out in Waihola. Often running out, the water is dirty and undrinkable. Seriously sort it out!
