I want to express my serious concerns regarding the recent road washout into Kinloch. The access road is impassable and because the council took no action (it was flagged to them and they watched it cave in, i know this as i was there and their car had been there a few hours prior). Ultimately it washed away and about 30 people were stranded in Kinloch. Then they just did nothing but leave them there. My hire car, which is currently stranded in Kinloch, must be retrieved by Friday to avoid an $800 relocation fee. Additionally, other individuals are facing similar issues, with their only means of transport and accommodation trapped as well. Not only has there been a significant failure in ensuring the safety of those who traveled this road—evidenced by a car falling into the water and washing away—but I am also disappointed by the lack of communication from the council. No council member has reached out via Facebook or any other platform, and no visible efforts have been made to address or repair the road. They literally left everyone stranded and did nothing between Friday 7 November and Sunday 10 November. This inaction is deeply concerning. They even made people walk 3km to a bus because they put up a barricade so the rescue bus couldnt get through (despite being told of the bus). We then had to pay $40 for us to get out/back to Queenstown. The council's apparent lack of responsiveness and concern for the well-being of its visitors and community members is unprecedented. The situation could have been far more dangerous, even fatal (thankfully people were not in that car) and would have been easily prevented had they closed the road. As it stands, many of us have incurred considerable financial losses, and I intend to seek legal advice regarding potential remedies.

Wanaka mt aspiring road west of treble cone entrance is in an atrocious state. Gravel Road is all large ripples from one edge to the other. After 3km on the gravel we gave up as it would damage our car. NO road should ever get to a situation where it damages a vehicle using it.

I was recently at Kinloch Wilderness Retreat and part of the road was washed away. Complete inaction from this council, no communication to stranded travellers. Many of us had to leave our cars and traverse a boggy patch of land in order to leave. I fly out of NZ this Friday and I need to get my rental car and still have heard nothing.

I am concerned about these devalopers and shop people and your whole community in not approving a McDonald's as they are the tiedest restruant around the country . plus they have great landscaping better than all the other shops in your town.and Mt iron is a disgrace with all the poos and litter on it as we walked it today.

Drove into Kinloch on Kinloch rd and also Routeburn rd last week - both roads disgustingly rough and cut up. - come on Council you can do better than this - especially with how popular and well used both these roads are
