At the heart of Hastings, the Hastings District Council offers more than administrative services; it provides unique community experiences like Waiaroha, a beautifully crafted interactive display that invites visitors to explore the journey of local water from mountain to sea. Families and locals alike enjoy the immersive exhibits and playful landscaping, making it a must-visit spot. The council’s team members also shine through acts of kindness, such as Phil, who went out of his way to assist a resident in need. This blend of community focus and thoughtful service makes the Hastings District Council a valued part of the city.

a year agoIf you have not been to check out Waiaroha yet, it is a must-see & experience. A beautifully presented interactive display showing the journey of our local water from mountain to the sea. Beautifully illustrated information stations. You can make your own mist, rain & water spout. Paddle in the streams that represent our local rivers. It has turned two huge water reservoirs into a place of interest & beauty. I am really impressed & will certainly be taking my mokopuna along to enjoy & learn. Once the amazing landscaping is established it will look even better. Well done!

3 years agoWe were 3/4 way through a reversing manoeuvre outside Uncle Bills when a “Hastings City Assist” vehicle overtook us on the opposite side of the entrance, in direct way of any oncoming traffic whom wouldn’t have seen them till the last minute as no-one would expect a car to be approaching them in the wrong lane. Why not wait five seconds for me to finish reversing thus not making the roads dangerous for other users. Isn’t that your job? To help ensure Public Safety?? We were then shocked to see you “jokingly gesture” to us, there’s nothing funny about terrible driving behaviour & I’d definitely expect more from you being as you represent the Hastings District Council.

4 years agoJust had to dump beautiful soft cushions beds and linen as no room at rubbish shop. Gutted and had to pay $55 for the privilege. Don't believe council is really on board they make more out of dumping. Unbelievable.

8 years agoOne of the Hastings city helpers Phil was wonderful. My car battery went flat so had to buy a new one, he carried my new battery all the way to the taxi stand for me as I was pushing a pram. Such a lovely thing to do I appreciate it so much.
