The penalty notice number is 318422, with a fine of $200. **Grounds for Appeal:** This ticket was issued in error. My vehicle is properly registered with New Zealand Transport Agency, and I am a compliant road user who meets all legal requirements. The vehicle registration label arrived in my post today, confirming my vehicle's registered status at the time the ticket was issued. **Issues with Current Enforcement System:** I wish to raise serious concerns about the council's parking enforcement procedures: 1. **Technology Inadequacy:** Your parking officers appear to lack proper technology to verify vehicle registration status before issuing fines. This results in incorrect penalties being issued to law-abiding citizens. 2. **Unreasonable Expectations:** Requiring vehicle owners to carry printed registration receipts creates an unnecessary burden, particularly for those without home printers.     More than happy to send you emails about money owing before the due date but not as quick at all to deal with a problem they’ve created. All in for the money, absolutely zero care and empathy towards anyone who lives here.

    An absolute disgrace I received a $40 ticket for parking over two car spaces due to the fact my Chevy ute is one and a half spaces long, I called and was told if I was towing a float or a trailer it would be fine as it’s two vehicles lol they then said that I should have pulled further forward to the front of the parking space and somehow that would make a difference as it’s still a 6.5 meter long vehicle in a 5 metre parking space. Then they said that I should park around the corner at some other parking area that I know nothing about as I am not from Ashburton. I spent $500 at Farmers while I was in Ashburton which would be supporting there economy but clearly that is not good enough. The lady that I spoke to when I called the council the same day was defensive and rude from the get go acting like a grumpy old school mistress that’s highlight in life was to take out her anger issues on the public (she needs to go see the local doctor for some meds to help with her attitude issue) and contradicted herself trying to defend the council who was completely wrong. I have had opportunities that I was looking at to invest in Ashburton and this was the reason for my trip however after your unfair and unreasonable welcome I can only imagine the nightmare it would be dealing with your council regarding a large property development. I would encourage anybody thinking of stoping to spend money in Ashburton or investing in this town not to bother as the Council is in the dark ages. I had my media representative call and email and it took days to get a reply and it was simply a joke. I have asked to speak with the Mayor however they are unavailable clearly in the job for the title and doesn’t walk the talk. Gore council think they have problems lol. If I was in the wrong I would just pay the fine but if the only way you can increase revenue is to effectively steal from out off town rate payers you have a problem. The moral of the story is don’t assume that you are better than everybody else as it will cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars investment in your region.     It’s a real pleasure to deal with our council, I have found them to be incredibly helpful and very polite both on the phone and in person. I know you must deal with a lot of angry nasty people but you are doing a great job thank you 🙂
