a year agoSupported my daughter in two of their residential homes for 4 years, 4 months before we felt forced (as her family) to rescue her. She was moved from one house to another without any consultation from us or telling us in any way. They unilaterally decided what was best and moved our 21 year old daughter into a old, shambolic 1940s Era house with a 62 year old flatmate. Also no bath in the house which was a serious denial of her human rights. Changed service managers & staff like they changed their underwear - very frequently. Did nothing in 4 years about our daughter's communication needs; put her on a diet without discussing it with her family; didn't invite her family to meetings concerning her goals for the future; lost referrals to behaviour support providers; failed to implement behaviour modification plans or modified them to suit their own agenda. The list goes on. Te Whatu Ora have now begun asking questions finally. I had an exit interview with Luke, one of their overpaid managers. He just charmed his way out of accepting any responsibility. Staff told me in confidence CLT was poorly run and warned me to get my daughter out on many occasions. I finally listened. Best thing I ever did. If you're considering placing a loved family member into residential care with Community Living, please seriously reconsider your decision and just don't.
