a month ago5 Stars – Amazing Local Experience with EcoKabs Gisborne/Tairāwhiti Big shoutout to Rau from EcoKabs Gisborne – absolute legend. As we stepped off the plane, we were ready to book an Uber… only to find out Gisborne doesn’t have Uber! And honestly, we’re so glad it doesn’t. It meant we got to support a local business and connect with someone who truly represents the heart of the community. Rau was already waiting outside, ready to go. On the way to my hui, I asked if we could make a quick stop to grab some donuts for my client. Rau didn’t hesitate – she happily made the detour and made sure I got what I needed. She then took us to the best lunch spot in town – the classic, good old Gisborne KFC. But what really stood out was the kōrero along the way. Rau shared so much about her whānau, the community, and what really makes Gisborne tick. It wasn’t just a taxi ride – it felt like a guided tour with a friend. Genuine, helpful, and full of local pride – you couldn’t ask for better service. Businesses like EcoKabs are what make small towns like Gisborne special, and they deserve to be supported and preserved.
