Film Bay of Plenty is the regional film office, supporting screen productions across the Bay and promoting the region as a world-class filming destination. We connect filmmakers with locations, crew, and communities, while also growing local talent and industry opportunities.
Our mahi goes beyond economic development. We use the power of film to strengthen resilience, celebrate kai security, and share the stories that shape our region. From documenting community responses to crisis (Taking Back Our Beach) to showcasing local growers and food rescue initiatives, we highlight the networks that sustain us.
We are also deeply committed to indigenous storytelling. Productions like Boy and Muru preserve and share Mātauranga Māori, honouring kaitiakitanga and deepening connections to the whenua.
By supporting creative projects, training opportunities, and local networks, Film Bay of Plenty helps ensure Bay stories are told by Bay people – building a more resilient, connected, and culturally rich community.
