a month agoThis op shop was great when it was in Porirua but not anymore. $15 for myself and my son to get in and walked out with nothing. The clothes are in terrible condition, same with the shoes. Visited when in Porirua more times than I can count and always left with something that was worth the $5 entry fee it used to be. Felt like asking for my money back today though. Have been three times since they’ve been in petone and it’s been disappointing every time - won’t be returning again.

4 months agoI went for the first time a few weeks ago, on the hunt for DVDs. There was a relatively large selection and I left with about 12 movies. I will go back from time to time to rifle through them again. I didn't fully understand the process when I walked in - it was explained to me in a way that made me think when you weighed your items, you paid based upon weight on the way out. But you don't. It works the same way as a buffet basically. Having already paid $10 to get in, I didn't want to leave with nothing, but also didn't want to pay a lot more. I did see a few things I would've grabbed if I had understood the way it worked better. It is best to take your own bag, incase you can't find one there to pack stuff in. People were filling suitcases that were already there with stuff like they were looting the place. I tend to go to charity shops when I am looking for something specific. Next time I will delve a bit deeper. The stuff did seem to be rather junky though - not as good quality as other charity shops.

a month agokeep in mind alot of these clothes are in poor condition - holes and stains, most of them arent worth more than $1 each. not really worth the $10 entry fee, maybe if it was $5 i would recommend it

3 months agoMy wife volunteered here as per the ads that were being put out. Turns out the staff get first dibs on all the good stuff before it even reaches the shelves! Senior staff in particular are the worse for this.
