7 months agoAbsolutely worst online butcher service I've ever used. Ordered well in advance of planned event. Was informed day of agreed delivery that the meat was twice the size as advertised and therefore twice the price. Needed my approval to still deliver. That's fine, quickly responded to please still send the meat asap. No response until the following day, asking again if I wanted delivery. I responded that they left me to scramble for alternative holiday plans but to still please send the meat as I had already done prepping for its delivery. Customer service (can we call it that?) again did not respond to the quick responses I provided, then were closed for 3 days without satisfying my order. They finally got back to me letting me know they were cancelling my order altogether. Nice service they provide. Maybe they are better at in-person service, but are ill-equipped to offer online delivery services, offer poor customer service, and not very responsive. Not sure I understand their business model, but I'm happy to take my business to another butcher.

8 months agoMeat delivered not as advertised not packaged correctly and shelf life of one 2 days. Second time I have had an issue with orders. Won't be ordering from them again.

2 years agoI have used Gourmet Direct 4 times over the 6 years. I am not a "caterer or restaurateur" just someone who likes quality meat and an easy life :) I use them when I want a bulk order of different meats for an upcoming event such as Christmas or a Party. I like that I can go online and am presented with a huge range of options of different meats, different sizes and different quality options. Website is very user friendly I find their prices are very comparable when you consider they are fresh and of high quality and when I factor in that I DID not have to drive around multiple butchers or retailers to source what I wanted. Due to the perishable nature of the products, before I place my order, I call them to discuss delivery so we can agree what best suits me. They are based near Napier but don't let that deter you as I live in Auckland.... Their operating hours are such that they are readily available and have sound logistic delivery processes in place. Orders are always delivered on the day we agreed and the product is packed suitably, arriving cool and in good condition. As for the meat quality..?? superb. Will continue to use their service ongoing..

a year agoHave made an order 3 times now. Each time there was an issue (incorrect items, incorrect amount charged, ect). Customer service was able to sort it out. This last one I can’t be bothered contacting and sorting again. So much effort for just basic orders. We have one voucher left that we used Airpoints to purchase and then will not use this company again.
