If your into growing your own fresh vegetables, this is the place to buy them. The team at Growers Direct are keen to provide excellent advice. Prices are much cheaper than most plant providers in the BOP.

Went to buy vegetable plants and got great advice on those, and everything else we asked about. Great selection of a large variety of well-grown plants, and at reasonable prices. Was very taken with the Hydrangeas and Hibiscus.

Extremely disappointed to see this business still openly selling known invasive species, despite widespread awareness and concern around their impact on New Zealand’s native ecosystems. Bangalow Palms have long been recognised as a serious environmental threat, yet here they are, still being pushed to unsuspecting customers. It's deeply concerning that profit is being prioritised over ecological responsibility, especially after this issue was brought to the owner’s attention years ago — with no meaningful change since. Reputable nurseries have already taken a stand, removing pest plants from their shelves and guiding buyers toward safer, non-invasive alternatives like Kentia. Sadly, that kind of leadership and accountability is clearly lacking here. If you care about the future of Aotearoa’s unique forests, I strongly encourage you to shop elsewhere. Businesses selling pest plants like Bangalow, Kermadec Nikau, and King Palms aren’t just behind the times — they’re actively contributing to long-term ecological harm.
