What is a Crop Swap?

A crop swap is a community gathering where people can trade their surplus homegrown produce, homemade products, and gardening knowledge. It’s a wonderful way to reduce food waste, try new things, and build connections with other gardeners in your area.

What to Bring:

  • Crops: Fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs from your garden.
  • Seeds & Seedlings: Extra seeds you’ve saved or seedlings you’ve grown.
  • Homemade Goods: Jams, chutneys, bread, or other creations you’ve made.
  • Knowledge: Your gardening expertise, tips, and tricks!

Why Join the Swap?

  • Share Your Harvest: Have a surplus of zucchini or tomatoes? Bring them along and swap for something you don’t have!
  • Discover New Varieties: Get your hands on unique heirloom seeds or new types of produce you’ve never tried before.
  • Learn and Connect: Meet fellow gardeners and share tips on composting, pest control, or preserving your harvest. The “knowledge” part of this swap is just as important as the crops!

The Kawakawa Crop, Seed and Knowledge Swap is a friendly and inclusive event. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, everyone is welcome. We look forward to seeing you there!

Suzy Randall

Suzy Randall is mentioned in the context of being a "Crop Swap Programme Manager" with Franziska von Hunerbein and working for Sustainable Taranaki. This suggests she plays a key role in the organization now, but the initial founding is attributed to Franziska von Hunerbein.
