3 weeks agoNo issues here. This New World is clean and well staffed up. The baked goods looked appetizing. Additionally, "my friend" didn't get any side-eye when buying 2 wines, some venison sticks and a local beer for a cheeky lake lunch, which was nice. Being non judgemental is so hot, right now.

4 weeks agoIncredibly rude staff. Staff member asked what type of produce I was purchasing because they didn't know what brand it was. I told them, they looked at another staff member and said it doesn't look like that type, I said you can go and check for yourself if you dont believe me. They begrudgingly entered the brand I told them it was, making it out like I was trying to rip them off. Then as we paid and were leaving a young male staff member returned the trolley that had been left at the end of the register where we were served at. However, he did so by aggressively slamming it into the bay directly behind my wife and I, a childish and unprofessional gesture that appeared to be a passive aggressive attempt to suggest we should have returned it ourselves. For the record, we used a basket, which my wife returned at the checkout.

6 months agoJust sad. You'd think in one of the premier fruit/veg growing regions of NZ that New World would have great offerings. Time and again the fruit is bland, rotten, frozen, and/or tasteless. Apricots, cherries, plums, watermelons, and peaches that have no flavor. The veggies seem like they've been stored somewhere for weeks. They must get their produce from a warehouse in Christchurch where it's been picked long ago and stored. There's an opportunity here for someone to come into this town with fresh produce.
