a year agoA hidden gem. A lovely mixture of community gardens, open grassy areas, natives, fruit trees, herbs, flowers, and ornamentals. Swings (incl. baby swing), picnic table & bench seat. A pioneer in community green space projects about 30yrs ago and still going strong! Now looked after by a charity (trust) who employs two staff members or a few hours each week, some lovely volunteers, and the council (who mow some areas & also maintain the swings). Volunteer days are usually Mondays & Thursdays 2-4pm in Winter and 4-6pm in Summer (check the facebook page for latest dates & times).

5 years agoSo glad to see this little hidden gem finally acknowledged on Google Maps as a park! Packe Street Community Gardens is an amazing local park, created by the community, for the community. Such a beautiful park that I have been frequenting during NZ COVID-19 lockdown 2020. I owe this park my sanity and will treasure it forever!
