Payless Plants is a no-nonsense store in Te Awamutu that impresses with its exceptional prices and robust, healthy plants. Gardeners appreciate the straightforward shopping experience where you can select from a wide range of specimens without any fuss or frills. While it doesn’t offer a boutique ambiance with cafes or decorative water features, it more than makes up for this with quality and value. a year agoExcellent range and all the plants look very healthy and robust. The value is really impressive and no doubt is due to the fact that it’s a no frills operation . You go around look at the plants , choose the ones you want , pay and off you go . If you want a nursery with a warm fussy feeling with wind chimes and water falls and a coffee shop this isn’t the place for you! But if you want a nursery with a good variety of healthy plants at amazing value… highly recommended

a year agoBeen there many times, and you know what's the real eye-catcher? The price tag! Don't count on the staff to be your personal plant whisperers – they're not about to give you a crash course in horticulture! But hey, that's why their stuff is cheaper; they're running a tight ship with fewer hands on deck. I kinda dig it. Just grab what you need if it's in stock. If you're on the hunt for something specific, they'll point you in the right direction. And if you're craving more plant wisdom, check out their websitewhile you are in-store or just give Google a whirl. Happy planting!

a year agoPayless Plants was a rare find in my experience. I almost drove past it because there were no obvious signs. I'd describe it as the most unpretentious and old-school type of business that you don't see a lot nowadays. I'm not sure if it's a family-owned and operated place, but they seem lovely. They're not too talkative but very helpful and knowledgeable. I couldn't be happier with the prices, to be honest. I got some good-sized, lovely natives from them for $7 each. You'd easily pay more than triple that price at online nurseries, let alone in-person ones. After posting the above message in the local FB group I got lots of replies from their long term customers singing praises for paylessplant. Also I transplanted most of the plants which all looking great, and the manuka and hebe are flowering in the garden now. P.S I really hope their website will be up and running again soon. Edited: hi Dave, it's lovely to learn that you are family owned and operated, and you are not buying into those new marketing strategies. Hats off to you! As a customer, it seems to me that this old school approach can go a long way. Sorry to hear about the issues with your website. Sounds very frustrating! I hope you can at least transfer your old data as I'm sure it was a lot of work. Best wishes!
