Roselea Specialized Dementia Care Home

Roselea care home is our go to place to take my dad when we need a break or family emergencies. One day we were very desperate to get dad in because of an unexpected funeral. I was very grateful when they did everything they could to help us organise his stay in such very short notice. I was so impressed. He has stayed there a few times now and we won’t go anywhere else. Each time we go in dad gets very confused and agitated but the friendly staff will walk by and greet him by his name and he instantly feels better, one time he looked at me and said “aw they do know me” with a big smile. I feel very comfortable leaving my dad here. My first time I felt so weird taking him in and leaving him there for a few days, but after a couple more times you can really see dad isn’t just another person walking in which to me is very important. Dad feels good when they greet him like they really know him and that’s what matters is that dad feels good. If he’s happy I’m happy. Ekta has a heart of gold, she messages me daily with little updates while dad is in, she’s helped me more than she knows. The place is beautiful, like a beautiful Lockwood home, where people can walk in and out of the building while still being safe. Thank you very much to the team at Roselea care home Hamilton.

Rosalea Specialized Dementia Care Home is absolutely Wonderful. My Loved one has just spent a week there and I could not have asked for a better care facility. Ekta and her team are super!! They are very caring, reassuring, helpful and attentive. The communication with Ekta from pre stay through to pick up was outstanding. The facilities are very clean, warm and homely. I have had experience with other rest homes in Hamilton and worked in many. Rosalea is by far my number 1 choice for my loved one with Dementia. A big thankyou to Rosalea for taking excellent care of my Mother in Law, who I believed would be very difficult to place. Your team made it all very easy. I look forward to next time I take a much needed break.

'Mā te ngākau aroha koe e ārahi - Let a loving heart lead you.' Ekta, Janki and the team at Roselea looked after our dad for 3 years. In the beginning it was incredibly difficult for us to hand our precious dad over to the care of others, but when we walked into Roselea it was like stepping into familiar surroundings. The lockwood buildings had a homely feel. It wasn't flashy and it wasn't state of the art but it was warm, welcoming and felt like home. The staff accommodated us and the tikanga we had in place to protect our dad's wairua, hinengaro, and tinana. They read through the whānau care plan that we provided and included us in every decision. We visited dad everyday and the staff quickly acknowledged that dad came with a large whānau who loved him and they embraced us because it was what was best for dad. They wrapped their aroha and manaaki around dad and our mum. The staff looked forward to seeing mum everyday and they checked in on her on the rare occasions she was unable to make it to Roselea. Throughout dad's time at Roselea we got to know the staff, the other residents and their whānau. We loved the fact that there were many Māori residents and whānau there who understood dad. We appreciated the staff's efforts to learn words and phrases in reo Māori that made dad feel like he was at home. The nurses, health care assistants and cooks went out of their way to connect with dad. We would often turn up to find them smiling and laughing with dad, singing to him or dancing with him, or sitting with him and holding his hand. With every fibre of their hearts and souls, they loved and cared for dad just as much as we did. When it came time for dad to move to hospital level care, it broke our hearts to leave the Roslea staff behind. They had become part of our whānau. When dad passed away, they turned up to his tangi to pay their respects and the tears in their eyes spoke volumes. We will never forget the wonderful Roselea staff whose aroha and manaaki helped to keep our dad earthside for longer than we could ever have hoped. Ngā mihi nunui ki a koutou katoa. The management and staff have been so supportive and empathetic towards my mum as a resident and our family. We could not ask for more. Regular updates, care and attention.
