Nestled in the tranquil surroundings of Pawarenga, St Gabriel’s Church and Urupā stands as a remarkable heritage site in Warawara Forest Road. Visitors appreciate the church’s pristine condition and the peaceful ambience that welcomes all who come to visit. The structure’s unique charm is deeply tied to its interior, reportedly crafted entirely from majestic kauri wood. While open mainly for Sunday mass, the hundred-year-old church offers stunning views and a serene retreat into history and nature. It’s truly a hidden gem for those seeking spiritual and cultural enrichment.

3 years agoThis is a hidden gem, a bit out on the rural side. But the church itself is a hertiage site and in pristine condition and surrounding. I heard the interior is completely made of kauri. Wasn't able to visit inside since they open only on sundays for mass.
