Nestled in the heart of Parnell, Auckland, St John the Baptist Catholic Church stands as a beautiful and historic place of worship. Revered as possibly the oldest Catholic church in New Zealand, this classic colonial building offers a serene setting for quiet prayer and reflection. Visitors appreciate the solemn and peaceful atmosphere, especially during the early Sunday mass that suits early risers. The church’s rich heritage and attentive congregation create a meaningful spiritual experience, cherished by locals and newcomers alike. It is a place where tradition and community come together in harmony.

2 years agoOne of the seven Catholic Churches we visited during Holy Week 2023 nice and quiet place. Filipinos would always be part of Catholic family anywhere in New Zealand. Prominent chunk of the community. Love and proud to be Pinoy. They started the seven last words and everyone was attentive.

a year agoVery solemn place for quiet time and prayers at the heart of Parnell. They have 7am Sunday mass, which for early birds like me comes in handy.
