Hello Tauranga Food Foresters!
A warm welcome to our new community, an idea that was brainstormed by the wonderful Selena Hardman! This group is for all of us in Tauranga who share a passion for growing food forests, no matter the scale. Whether you have a sprawling backyard filled with edible plants or a single pot of herbs on your balcony, your passion and knowledge are welcome here.
The core of our group is built on the principles of sharing, learning, and collaboration. We believe that a diverse food forest is a resilient one, and the same goes for our community. By sharing our collective knowledge and experience, we can all learn how to create more robust and productive food systems.
We strongly encourage you to post questions, share your successes (and failures!), and celebrate the diversity of plants you are growing. Did you discover a local plant that thrives in Tauranga’s climate? Have you found a clever way to deal with a pest? Or maybe you have a story about a new plant you’ve added to your food forest. We want to hear about it!
Join the conversation and connect with us on our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/foodforeststauranga/
A key part of our group is the trading, selling, and gifting of plants, seeds, and produce. This is a fantastic way to introduce new varieties into our food forests and help others expand theirs. Let’s make this a hub for swapping surplus seedlings, sharing cuttings, or even selling that bumper crop of avocados. It’s all about creating a network of support that benefits everyone.
We’re excited to see what we can grow together. Let’s get our hands dirty, share our knowledge, and cultivate a thriving food forest community right here in Tauranga.
Happy planting!
