a year agoRegarding the recycling collection, Council again has failed to at least leave a sticker on the bin if they refuse to take recycling items. We noticed that other neighbors’ recycling bins were collected and ours weren’t causing us the inconvenience of having to call up and find out why. We learned that recycling items should not be enclosed inside plastic bags inside the bin. When visiting the Whitianga refuse transfer station at 237 South Highway west Whitianga, we noticed that there were many refuse items enclosed in plastic bags. First, we don’t know who looked and rejected our bin. Therefore, we are left to assume it was Council doing random inspections but failed to put a sticker on the bin, saying why it was rejected. Second, from our observation at the refuse transfer station, it seemed hundreds of others are doing the same as we did .Therefore, why is this requirement NOT included in the rules that is affixed to garbage bins ? Is this another excuse for laziness on the part of council? Third, this requirement is NOT listed on the recycling section of Council’s website. Why? Fourth, we have to take our recycling items to the said depot who wanted to charge us for Council’s mistake. I told the lady at the depot that the Council said it was free. She then called up Council to confirm it, as obviously she didn’t believe me. Let’s hope there isn’t a repeat of this ordeal, failing which, I will need to do what anyone would do if repeated, that is to sue Council for damages.

a year agoGot a ticket for not having a day pass on my boat trailer… have an annual pass, my lights and number plate attach to the boat… they were in the truck so they don’t get stolen… not the first blunder by tcdc

a year agoWhat an absolute disgrace! I have just been notified by the lovely Sharon from Coromandel Taxis that tcdc has stopped any en route pick ups. I, along with others have been utilising this much needed service to get into Thames from the coast for appointments etc. Kinda wondered if it was almost a set up to fail to begin with. Shame on you tcdc.
