UPDATED BIS Repetita: Full review of the Timaru district council, its district councillors and Mayor pending... Whilst you're waiting for this Review to be completed- Here are a few facts about the Air quality or lack thereof, odors and so forth about the township: Fact 1: There are two Air quality Monitoring stations in Timaru. One located in Parkside, near the old Countdown- The other in Washdyke. Only one of the two is operating correctly. Fact 2: After being subjected to very poor Air quality and horrendous odors for over a decade- The resilient people of Washdyke finally complained- It was documented in the local Newspapers (i.e. The Timaru Herald and Courier are the long standing local Newspapers). Fact 3: In 2014, the Timaru Township had the worst Air quality in all of Australasia. (Source: Timaru Herald, Courrier by Chris Toobin). Fact 4: Over the last few weeks of July 2025, the Township of Timaru has experienced unhealthy to very unhealthy US A.Q.I (Source I.Q Air, the foremost Air monitoring organization in the World). Other reliable sources (i.e. aqicn.org), divulge similar results. I invite people to specifically monitor the data and results for themselves- From expert and reliable sources, such as the aforementioned Organization and/or company. Whereas Ecan outdated, half working and unreliable air monitoring station(s) do NOT record many dangerous pollutants such as Sulphur Dioxide (i.e. SO²). Only Particulate Matter 10 (i.e. P.M 10) and 2.5 (i.e. P.M 2.5) are displayed. Furthermore, their calculations were based on percentages and not hourly monitoring of the Air quality or lack thereof, which changes frequently in areas such as Timaru/Washdykes and al. Please note only one of the two stations is actually working. Therefore, the data provided to the general population by Ecan is incomplete, inaccurate and biased. And, thus depicts a favorable image of Timaru's, its district council and its mayor, Nigel Bowen.

Contacted council office yesterday about a dangerous pot hole on a blind corner on Bassett road. Just like to say thank you so much for fixing this or temp repair done same day as called in. Great Service

This is just an excuse to get revenue there's an underlining issue here.people will not visit this area and anty social is just another excuse.if everyone stopped paying for the council salaries then they might rethink.dont go there park in supermarkets double park on there streets

The water in Talbot Street Geraldine is off again (this has happened numerous times since we have lived here) - apparently they have a loud hailer which is impossible to hear if you live in a back section. Why cannot the Council on behalf of Citi Care send an email advising local residents of any issues in the immediate area. If they can send Rates Notices by email, they have your address - what is the problem?

Rude lady answering the phones need a crash course in how to talk to people. Didn't offer solution or even help on who to speak to. Change jobs if you don't like dealing with people.
