What is Urban Edibles?

Urban Edibles is a weekly gardening bee hosted by Sustainable Papakura. It’s not a traditional “crop swap” where you just exchange produce, but an opportunity to participate in a community garden. You can work with a group of people to grow food, share your knowledge, and learn new skills. It’s a hands-on experience that helps build community while growing food for everyone to share.

What to Expect:

  • Hands-on Gardening: Get your hands dirty! Help with weeding, planting, harvesting, and general garden maintenance.
  • Community Building: Meet like-minded people who are passionate about growing food and sustainable living.
  • Skill Sharing: Learn new gardening tips and tricks from others, or share your own expertise.

Why Participate?

  • Learn to Grow: If you’re new to gardening, this is a perfect way to learn from experienced growers in a friendly environment.
  • Contribute to the Community: Help provide fresh, local food for people in the Papakura area.
  • Connect with Nature: Take a break from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the peaceful and rewarding activity of gardening.

If you’re looking for a different way to engage with a local food community, the Urban Edibles gardening bee is a great option. We look forward to seeing you there!
