8 months agoGreat community focused op shop with lovely staff. A very large selection of items considering they are operating on a small shop floor! Lots of designer clothing items for 10-20% of the retail price, many great finds here. Will definitely be coming back soon!

5 months agoSUPER disappointed in the prices. Some items were really worn down but still quite over priced. Really disheartening to see prices with such a high mark up given that all items are donated. Especially in an area where there are plenty of uni students who don't have a lot of money to spend on clothes. The dinnerware and kitchen items were also really expensive. You could definitely find cheaper elsewhere, in some cases buying new would be cheaper. It's grest going to op shops to support a local charity and I'm sad I wasn't able to AFFORD it in this case. Its unlikely I'll be back.

a month agoUsed to be a really awesome op Shop. Now it feels like new management have killed it with everything over priced and clinical. Also the lovely staff whom used to work there are gone. Shame

6 months agoI thought the whole point of an op shop/charity shop was ‘for the people’? Yes the money goes to charity but charity shops are supposed to be affordable for the people who need it which this store is very much not. I don’t understand the need to mark up clothing and items to $30-50 when if not all then most items are donated. This store is in a prime location of students and families so I would expect it to be a place people go to buy affordable things they need. Everytime I visit this store, there is always volunteers/workers looking up the prices for every item that gets donated. Just because something goes for that much money online does not mean it sells for that much money. This store would receive many more sales/donations if it was affordable. If you are looking for an op shop, this is not one. This is more an antique store where most clothing is over $10, jewellery is over $10 and simple kitchen items go for over $5. If you are looking to donate your items, ‘Free for all’ in petone is lovely and even the salvation army or city mission on taranaki street is more ethical and fair. The Vinnies store in Aro Valley is even more fairly priced than the Kelburn Vinnies store so this seems to be an issue with this specific store and those who run it. I do not expect this store to be around much longer with the lack in sales.

2 months agoshockingly high prices which is disappointing given that presumably a large number of customers will be struggling uni students - in particular it’s sad to see used, non-designer winter coats priced so high as this is an absolute necessity in cold and rainy welly
