3 weeks agoI visited Wairau ED with a severe back injury that left me unable to sit or stand. Despite explaining this, I was told to stand and wait for triage. I lay on a bench outside in the cold for nearly 2 hours before being seen. Staff at the front desk seemed unsympathetic, and the doctor was unable to diagnose the issue, sending me home with painkillers. I hope the hospital considers ways to better support patients in visible distress, especially those with mobility issues.

3 months agoBegged them to take it slow with my dad as he just broke his hip. I gave them suggestions on how to get him into the stretcher easier and they did it in one of the hardest most painful ways possible as my dad screamed in pain. I managed to get my dad off the floor and into his own bed in far less pain so why couldn't trained professionals? I told them specifically to take it slow and careful yet they were rough and fast.

7 months agoA heartfelt shout-out to the amazing emergency department staff, doctors, and nurses at Wairau Hospital. I took my 5-month-old daughter there in an emergency situation where she was struggling to breathe. The team acted immediately, prioritizing her care over anything else—even before the paperwork. Thanks to their swift action, my little one is now sound, safe, and back home with us. I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible work they do. A big salute to our health workers—you are true heroes. I am forever thankful.

7 months agoGreat team and really professional nurses and doctors. Would have given it a 5 star review however I felt like that the lady at reception was quite rude to me and my family (gave us a bit of an attitude).

a year agoMy husband recently had a motorbike accident and I must say that the nurses/receptionists/doctors/surgeons there were exceptional. The level of care and compassion they provided(especially under pressure) was truly remarkable. They were not only professional but also really friendly. The nursing staff made a difficult situation more manageable, and we felt genuinely cared for during my stay. Thankyou.
