5 months agoA 39 year old wife was refused service for a bottle of wine because she didn’t have ID. She came home and told her 40 year old husband that she can’t find her ID and can’t purchase the wine. So he goes down there to get the wine for them, as he gets to the counter he said in a friendly way, is this the wine my wife was trying to buy? She said no, but now I’m not going to serve you because you’re buying it for her. I said she’s 39 and can’t find her ID. They still refused and said it’s the law. The law states that they have the right to refuse, it does not say you can’t sell to 40 year olds, so they can supply their 39 year old wife. Because she has “reasonable grounds to suspect” that he was supplying a minor. This may be her right, but it shows a serious lack of common sense. The frustrating part is that honesty got him penalised, while someone less upfront could have just walked in, bought the wine, and left with no issues. Unfortunately, some places stick rigidly to “no ID, no service” even when it’s clearly unnecessary. Lesson learned—next time, don’t mention your wife. Just buy the wine like it’s for yourself, and there’s nothing they can do about it. Bureaucracy at its finest.

5 months agoWitnessed the most casual robbery I've ever seen, 2 kids with a bag, everyone in the store watching them thinking "they're stealing stuff", security just watching them leave. They'll definitely be doing it again if its that easy. Apart from the laxed security staff who do nothing the store is pretty good, great range of items, price not bad

2 months agoPrices are generally okay. Some items are always moved to the most random spots for nor reason and can be irritating to walk around the store to find again

6 years agoNice cafe with super friendly people. Nice coffee but cakes are less than soft. Robert Harris coffee. Bit hard because the chiller is more like freezer temperature I think. They need to lower it to fridge temperature. I had a Chicken Filo (Burnt on bottom) and Lemon cake. They can do better than this.
